dive into the rual streets, visit the historical sights and catch up the vibe of the swahili town
This excursion is a half day tour and starts at the heart of the UNESCO world Heritage in Stone Town at the Darajani Market. There you will dive into the animation of the local people and you will see different tropical kinds of fishes, vegetables and fruits. You are allowed to take photos upon the inquiry of your guide if it comes to taking pictures of the locals. Generally, one can take the architectural photos of the alleys of the historical Stone Town.
From there you will snake around through the narrow streets of Stone Town. You will get an impression of the local street life, see the old typical Zanzibarian doors, and you will discover more of the hidden memorial heritage of the town.
The tour will then proceed to the former slave market site, where stands the Anglican cathedral church, hereby learn some history of the slavery days and religious tolerance in Zanzibar
Our guides are very familiar with the town and if you occur to have special wishes, different to the upper description of the tour, please feel free to communicate this on time with us, so we can plan and act on any related changes. Otherwise, the tour ends around the sea side of the town after visiting the old Portuguese ruins facing the Forodhani Gardens.
It is also possible to plan some individual extra time to explore the town on your own. Maybe you wish to buy souvenirs and do some shopping, you want to drink a coffee or eat an ice cream. Shortly before sunset the Forodhani Gardens changes into a food market with local dishes and drinks and is definitely worth a visit. This extra time is without guide and our driver would pick you up at an agreed meeting point on time. Please let us know your demands in advance!
